Special Note From MSA President - July 3rd Motordrome Speedway
|
From Kevin Jaycox:
Stan Laski and myself have decided that it is in best interest of both groups to cancel the July 3rd event at Motordrome Speedway and take a look at it again in 2010. I would like to thank Stan for considering MSA on their schedule and look forward to working with him in the future. Any questions or comments on this should be directed to me at 440-213-7003.

Midwest Supermodifieds Set to Shake Sandusky
|

By: Chris Meyers
The PPG Vibrance Collection Midwest Supermodified Association is set to invade Sandusky Speedway on Saturday June 6th, 2009 for its third race of the 2009 campaign. The first two shows took place last weekend in New York. Trent Stephens shocked the supermodified world when he won his first ever supermodified show at the Oswego Speedway on Saturday night. Supermodified competitor Mark Sammut ran down 2008 MSA Champion Timmy Jedrzejek to win Sunday's show at Dunn-Tire Raceway park. Trent finished third at Dunn-Tire Raceway park. After the past weekend of racing Trent holds down the points lead with an eight point advantage over Timmy Jedrzejek. Randy Burch who had a great run at Oswego with a second place finish sits third in points. May Motorsports teammates Tim Ice and Charlie Schultz round out the top five.
Reed's Salvage out of Grafton, Ohio is sponsoring the night's festivities which also will showcase the modifieds and the sprint cars to make it an all-open wheel event! Pit Gates will open at 2:30 pm. The main gate will open at 3:30 pm. Hot laps will start at this time with qualifying to follow at 5:00 pm. The first heat race will take to the track at approximately 6:30 pm.
Other supermodified competitors expected to compete in this event include veterans Jack Smith, Jon Henes, Bobby Dawson, Rich Reid, and Matt Palmer to name a few. Last year, Charlie Schultz and Timmy Jedrzejek each picked up two feature wins in MSA competition at the half-mile track located conveniently off Perkins Ave. The Vibrance Collection(tm) from PPG offers the latest in hot colors, unique micas, innovative pigments and special effects to create an unlimited choice of custom finishes for those who want their prized vehicle to stand out from the crowd. Look for PPG on the track. Vibrance---absolutely the hottest colors for the coolest rides!

Stout performance turned in on opening day as Stout MSA cars finish one - two.
|
By Oswego Speedway | | The opening day “Port City 150” at the Oswego Speedway featured less than half a dozen lap leaders throughout the 150 laps of feature race action but there were still close finishes and popular wins. Dave Gruel, Trent Stephens and Ted Christopher all got wins in cars that they have had very little seat time in.
The first feature of the night had Dave Gruel in the Tim Barbeau owned #50 lead from lap #2 right to the checkered flag on lap #35. For the majority of the race it was Barbeau right behind Gruel in the Steve Abt owned #58. Barbeau pitted late in the event with what should turn out to be a minor problem. Dave Cliff came home in the runner up position. Russ Brown picked up third place in the Pike Racing #60. Mike Bond finished in fourth and “Big Daddy” Shawn Walker rounded out the top five.
In the marathon 75 lap Parts Plus Richie Evans Memorial 75 lap feature Billy Putney was the driver that held the number one spot for almost the entire event. A smoking Putney had to pit under yellow with only a few laps to go and Ted Christopher then raced to a half car length win over Matt Hirschman. Jan Leaty rounded out the podium finish for the Race of Champions tour.
In the night cap, Ray Graham appeared to be on his way to his first Oswego Speedway win but after leading the first eighteen laps an electrical problem forced him to pit. Trent Stephens, driving the Steve Stout #19, maintained the lead position for the balance of the forty lap feature and picked up his first Oswego Speedway win. Stephens’ teammate, Randy Burch driving the Stout #49, came home in second. Oswego regular Jason Spaulding finished in third. Pat Lavery was fourth and Charlie Schultz rounded out the top five.
